Fiber Paintings

The fiber paintings are created by using Alpaca fibers and Sheep wool. The process begans by wet felting a colorful background/ palate. I then add deminsion and definition by needle felting and adding pre-felts. As the picture involves I frequently re-wet felt it, which gives a 3-D effect.  I rarely put these pictures behind glass, it seems to take away from the textured and deminsional effect.

“Country Living”

This fiber painting was inspired by my neighbors backyard , where as a child I spent many of my days, gathering eggs, riding their milking cow. What wonderful memories. I created this fiber art using a variety of wools. Wet felting and needle felting. It has been professionly framed without glass.

     “Princess Sno Fire”

This was my first Fiber Painting. I took a picture of one of our Alpacas and used her fiber to recreated her image. This picture is thin and does not have the deminsion that the rest of my pictures have, but is very special to me. I will be keeping this one.

“WindSong”

This is a picture/wall hanging is framed in a dark wood.  The picture was first layed out using cormo wool as a background, adding natural fawn fibers for the horse coloring, It was then wet felted. The details were added by needlefelting. The whole picture was then again wet felted and mounted in a frame. There is no glass, so the texture of the fibers are easily viewed, and touchable. This was entirely handmade-painting with wool & fibers.
